CHILL IN MY HEART

"Hurricane" Gordon Price
I woke up this morning with this chill deep in my heart,
I dreamed that you had slipped away, heaven took you back home to stay.
I reached out for your hand, they way I always used to do,
I could not find you anywhere, this must have been my worst nightmare.
Oh God I know I have neglected you in oh so many ways,
I did not hear what your heart was trying to say.
Please tell me lord that this is not really real,
I have loved you for so very long, without you I just can’t go on.
Please warm up this chill in my heart,
Please make this bad dream go away,
Please show me her smile once again,
Please bring back my very best friend.
Please warm up this chill in my heart.
Suddenly I woke up and looked all around,
My heart started racing, when I heard that old familiar sound,
I ran to the kitchen, and yes you were up,
Washing out silverware and and old coffee cups,
I told you how I loved you now, for oh so many years,
I gave you a big hug, I couldn’t hold back my tears,
You looked into my eyes and said "hey what’s wrong with you?"
I told you I had a bad dream, and I thought it was true.
Please warm up this chill in my heart,
Please make this bad dream go away,
Please show me her smile once again,
Please bring back my very best friend.
Please warm up this chill in my heart.
You poured a fresh cup of coffee, and sat down with a sigh,
You said "I have way too much work to do, to just up and die",
So don’t worry old man, life ain’t over yet,
They don’t let you croak, when you are this far in debt.
So save some of that passion, I’ll be home at six,
I’ll put on something comfortable, and I will make you forget,
That even with all of life’s daily regrets,
Our love is alive, I haven’t given up yet.
Please warm up this chill in my heart,
Please make this bad dream go away,
Please show me her smile once again,
Please bring back my very best friend.
Please warm up this chill in my heart.
